The 21st edition of Parallel Music Festival – a signature annual event of Rotary Club of Madras Coromandel will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 4 p.m. onwards at the Kasturi Srinivasan Hall of The Music Academy, coinciding with the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
N Murali, President of the Music Academy & director of the Hindu Group Publishing ( P) Ltd is the chief guest. The Club will honour Sangita Kalanidhi-designate vidwan R K Shriramkumar.
Life Time Achievement Award for 2025 will be conferred on violin vidwan T K Padmanabhan, a senior artiste who honed his skills in Kalakshetra.
Distinguished Musician Award 2025 will be conferred on vidwan S. Srinivasan, veena exponent & vocalist – a differently abled artiste who retired a few years ago as senior staff artiste of AIR.
Promising Musician award 2025 will be conferred on vidwan Thirumurugan, morsing & mridangam artiste – a prime disciple of vidwan Valangaiman Thiagarajan, percussionist of
Pudukottai school.
The Promising Musician Awards are being conferred this year on Vaikom Vijayalakshmi and on Dr. K T Uday Kiran from Mysore.
There will be two vocal concerts this year – a Carnatic vocal – gayatri veena concert by Vaikom Vijayalakshmi and the second will be by vidwan Dr.K T Uday Kiran – vocal.
All these artistes, other than vidwan S. Srinivasan, are visually challenged artistes.
The event is open to all.
