There are a few artistes whose fans follow them closely during the December Season. Some attend all their concerts, even held in the city suburbs.

One of them in recent times who has a committed following is vocalist Prince Rama Varma. He brings a signature touch to all his concerts and even converses between songs, which gets lapped up by rasikas.

I have been attending Varma ji’s events in Chennai for around 20 years now. Every year, the number of people who attend his concerts keep increasing and the level of the music presented by Varma ji and his wonderful team, keeps getting better and better too.

But the number of attendees cannot increase again next year, simply because the halls were completely packed, for every single event, right from the first concert at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan to the much awaited New Year’s eve concert at Jaigopal Garodia School where Varma ji was obliged to extend the concert by half an hour, thanks to requests from the listeners.
