Celebrating the music of Muthuswamy Dikshitar; concerts in San Thome. Dec.28, 29

Veenavadini Sampradaya Trust based in Mandaveli is celebrating the 250th birth anniversary of Carnatic music composer Muthuswamy Dikshitar as a year long Samvatsara Mahotsavam.

It is promoted by artistes Jt Jeyraaj Krishnan and Jaysri Jeyraaj.

The latest in a series of programmes is happening this week.

On Dec.28;
Venue: Balaganapathy Hall, 11/2 Leith Castle North Street, opposite State Registrar’s Office.
4:45 pm: Inauguration event
5 pm: Historian Dr Chithra Madhavan’s talk on “Muthuswamy Dikshitar’s Kancheepuram Yatra”
6:30 pm : Iyer Brothers – Veena concert/ Trichur Narendran – Mridangam / Hariharasubramanian – Ghatam

On Dec. 29 :
4:30 pm Kolkata Padmavathy Saranathan – Vocal
6:30 pm; concert by Prince Rama Varma -Vocal; S R Vinu – Violin ; B Harikumar – Mridangam
